Below are answers to some frequently asked questions. Ask additional questions with the form at the bottom.

Do you teach classes?

Sometimes! See our Learning page for classes & events currently and previously offered.

Most of the time Dabble is a place for independent creative development; a place to work on your own, to practice and to try new things. Feedback is always available but will only be given when asked. It’s like having an on-call art instructor.

You can also learn a lot from our free in-person Demos, plus the Exercises and Using the Studio videos.

For individuals wishing to host their own classes or workshops, the studio is available to rent outside of drop in hours. These classes and workshops will also be posted on the Calendar page.

Do you allow kids?

Absolutely! All ages are welcome at all events at Dabble.

Do you do birthday parties?

Yes. Please see the Parties page for details.

Is this like a “Sip and Paint”?

No. We do not allow alcohol or serve food of any kind. You can bring in your own food but no alcohol, please. There are several great options in the neighborhood for a drink afterward.

Are there nudes?

No. Everyone keeps their clothes on for the following reasons:

  1. It makes Dave uncomfortable.
  2. All ages are welcome at all events at Dabble.
  3. We have really big windows.

For local nude figure drawing and painting venues, see our Resources page.

What kind of lights are those?

We have professional adjustable photo quality lights mounted to the ceiling. They can be positioned around the room for various activities like model drawing sessions or photographing artwork.

How long have you been open?

Dabble opened to the public in June 2021. Since then we’ve been learning a lot about helping people feel creative.

Where did you get the idea for this place?

Dave thought of the idea for Dabble many years ago from conversations with people who wished they could make art but they were letting things get in their way: schedules, jobs, lack of space, access to equipment, self-consciousness etc. Dave imagined an accessible, welcoming, well equipped place for people of all ages and skill levels to come and be creative.
