Then draw a pair of scissors from life. Then draw a pair again from memory.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/fMQyhheJRVA\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 13: Ruler Drawing<\/a> Draw a still life using a ruler for every line you make.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/w9zoQ3XYwnY\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 14: Draw by Erasing<\/a> Create a tone acrosss your paper and draw with your eraser.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pj13fo11crU\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 16: Overhand Drawing<\/a> Try drawing your subject with an overhand grip instead of holding your pencil like you write with a pen.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/p4dxFXrEUiQ\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 17: Stick Drawing<\/a> Find a stick, dip it in ink and draw with it.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VyLzaYKx0hE\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 18: Ink Transfer Drawing<\/a> Cover the back of a drawing with printing ink or oil paint, then place it over a new surface, trace it and see the effect on the new surface.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/h7E-EU5REDA\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 19: Pet Portrait<\/a> Make a portrait of your pet as a human.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/e-g3Jh6Nxt0\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 20: Negative Space<\/a> Draw or paint your subject by focusing on the negative spaces (the air around to openings inside your subject).<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/JqGLqsyDdLc\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 21: Arbitrary Color Still Life<\/a> Paint a still life using correct values but arbitrary colors.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/HyADX75rQHg\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 22: Five Angles<\/a> Draw the same subject from five different angles.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/kawA4MGDPjM\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 23: Scribble Drawing<\/a> Build a drawing by scribbling tones rather than making contour lines.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ovZhSnpru04\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 24: Value Scale by Mixing<\/a> Create a value scale by mixing white and another color and painting opaquely.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/7fPbJzdA7TQ\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 25: Value Scale by Dilution<\/a> Create a value scale by using one color transparently. Continue diluting it with its medium (e.g. water or solvent) to create lighter tones.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/PWsAXnI5mRI\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 26: Pointillism<\/a> Create a still life with only dots. Que Seurat Seurat!<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/5FsTRqaMEcc\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 27: Stamp Drawing<\/a> Create a drawing by using a stamp to create values and forms.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZF9m_osAqPc\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 28: Scratch Foam<\/a> Draw on scratch foam (don&#8217;t forget your drawing will be reversed) and make a print.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/uGfnzh22Jnc\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 29: Grid Transfer<\/a> Copy a sketch or photograph. Draw a grid of squares on top of it. Draw a grid with the same number of squares on a larger surface. Does it improve your proportions?<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Op0WO96ERwo\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 39: Hard and Soft Contour Lines<\/a> Make a contour drawing varying the softness of the lines of your subject.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/xjHwxBSMOhk\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 40: Five Values<\/a> Pre-mix five values of a color from light to dark. Then paint a still life using only those colors.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"easy\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZSSe3f0iZgM\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 42: Art of Arranging<\/a> Arrange the objects in this box by value, color and size.<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"moderate\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/01WjUMpl2ZY\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">Exercise 45: Thin Over Thick<\/a> Paint a still life in thick white highlights.
